“The scholarship helped me in so many ways” said scholarship recipient, Jessy Zumaeta. Originally from Chile, Jessy moved to London and studied in the Department of Management thanks to the help of a scholarship award.
Jessy enrolled onto the Human Resources and Organisations programme and was able to access high-quality teaching otherwise unavailable to her. She states “I was able to learn state of the art approaches in my field of study”. Professor Patrick Flood – a management alumnus and scholarship donor – agreed about the impact such funding can have, and told us that “scholarships open doors and change lives”.
Jessy graduated in 2016 with a distinction, but the benefits of her scholarship didn’t stop there. Now an LSE alumna, Jessy found herself part of what she calls “a strong and lasting network of enthusiastic and brilliant professionals”.
Currently working at the University of Chile as Director of Executive and Organisational Development, Jessy spoke to us about the importance of receiving an LSE scholarship. She affirmed that it “provides the necessary drive to achieve ambitious personal and professional goals”. For Jessy, this was all made possible by the award – something Professor Flood echoed. “I would encourage alumni to support the Department of Management with its global ethos and world class faculty” he told us.
